With 16 teams from 9 countries divided into 2 groups of 9, all teams, including the qualification matches on Sunday, played 9 matches. It is a tough and intensive tournament for the players and therefore the winner of the tournament is always a good and strong team.

The 4 semi-finalists had to come from the last round on Sunday morning, because it was very close together. Manchester United just failed to make it in group A. They finished 3rd on goal difference, which was not enough for the semi-finals.

But we had a super nice semi-final with Aberdeen, Atlanta United FC, Borussia Dortmund and EC Laranja Mecanica. With 3 teams that had never come this far, the matches were a feast for the eyes. The matches were played with a large audience.

Ultimately, Borussia Dortmund managed to take 3rd place by beating EC Laranja Mecanica in the consolation final (3-1).

The final between Aberdeen and Atlanta United FC was one to enjoy. With a lot of energy and passion, the approximately 1,500 spectators got to see a great match. Unfortunately, no goals were scored in the match and penalties had to be the deciding factor. It was Santi Suarez who missed the 3rd penalty and because the 4th penalty was also missed by Atlanta United FC, Aberdeen became the proud winner of the 8th edition of the BOAL International U14 Tournament.

The great thing is that the winners list now includes 8 different clubs. Not one team has managed to win the tournament twice.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank:

• the approximately 150 volunteers from bars, catering, first aid, facilitary staff, referees, stewards, secretary, PR, commission members, the 36 host families and laundry families. Without these group op people, an event like this can not be organized.
